Longing For One Another Community
Discovering The Power Of One Anothering
The early believers didn't see themselves as an institution.... they saw themselves as a family. For them church wasn't something they went to.... it was a way of living in relationship with the Father and his other children. And then having learned to love one another, they were unable to keep themselves from treating others in the world with that same love.
Today there is a deep longing for these types of relationships.... for this one another community. There is still a thirst for genuine friendships. Somehow we intuitively know we were created for relationships. It’s as if God has wired into our very nature the desire to be connected and so we keep searching for fulfillment even beyond our bitter disappointments. We want people with whom we can share the joys and hurts of the journey. We long for a place where we can pool our wisdom and resources. We really don't want to make it on our own. Everywhere there is this thirst. We long for a sense of community.
But this thirst will only be quenched by living the way Jesus did as we stop trying to get love for our selves but rather are learning how to share it with others. This is the place where we will discover the treasure of people Father will place on the the path of our journey and as we do we will find the community that we long to be part of.
