The Lessons I Want To Have Taught My Kids

Last month I sat and watched both my children graduate. One graduated from university and the other graduated from medical school. Both were high achievements. As I was thinking about what my children had achieved there was this wave of realization that sun was setting on the amount of direct influence that I was going to have in their choices and decisions as they go forward. Now I’m sure they’ll want dad’s input on some things and I’m equally sure that I’ll give my input even when it’s not asked for or wanted but for the most part they are going to do what they want.

I share all that because since then I’ve been thinking about the lessons I want to have taught my kids. From here on out it’s basically going to be the reaping of what has been sown. I want to have sown well.

There are some lessons that I really want my kids to have learned because I believe they are foundational to living a good life. They are lessons that I want to stay with them even when I cannot. And so from someone that’s been down the parenting road I want to share with you the lessons I want to have taught my kids.
