He Is A Blind Spot Specialist

Series Title:

Would Jesus Fit Into Your Church?

Jesus has a unique way of seeing all things, and he wants us to see the things as he sees them. Jesus especially wants us to see that nothing is more dangerous than blind people who are certain they see clearly. Intimate connection with God is most easily missed by arrogantly supposing that we've got God in our pocket and we possess all the answers to the mystery of faith. Until we see as Jesus does, we'll never see anything clearly.

Jesus came to enrich our impoverished lives with the good news that we are of infinite value. With unrivalled kindness and mercy, Jesus declares that we don't have to struggle any longer to get God to recognize and affirm us. He's come to liberate us from the "merit badge" mentality that religion promotes and to restore our vision and rid us of the notion that we're in the middle of a cosmic game of crime and punishment. He's come to dispel the myth that we get what we deserve and strive hard to attain. He's here to help us experience the radical nature of his grace.

The problem all of us have is in seeing that reality because we all have undetected blind spots. Our spiritual vision plays tricks on us, and despite being blind we are certain we see clearly. Jesus wants to correct that and until he does we'll never see anyone clearly.... not God, ourselves, our family, our friends, our colleagues or our enemies. Instead, we'll stumble in the dim shadows of prejudicial judgement, religious ritual, guilt, shame and emptiness.

Would Jesus fit into your church since he's a blind spot specialist that will challenge us to see clearly? Join us as we consider these thoughts and questions
