Lesson Eleven: Love Keeps No Record Of Wrongs
May I Introduce You To God?
If I were to ask anyone in today's society if love keeps a record of wrongs, they would unanimously say "Yes." Most likely everyone would agree that it shouldn't, but the majority of people would admit that it does nonetheless. What is even worse is that most of us have relieved ourselves from all personal responsibility of doing it. We even say that we can't help it. We tell our spouse or friend who wrongs us that we can forgive them, but we can't forget what they did. There is no point in trying, because we are human and it's not our fault. It's expected. Because we expect it, we continue to do it.
Because of our learned perceptions about love keeping records of wrongs, we ultimately believe that God keeps an account of our wrongs. Most of us know in our heads that this is not true; however, our hearts believe the exact opposite. The greatest evidence that most people believe God keeps records of their wrongs, is the fact that most people religiously keep records of their own wrongs. If we really believed in our hearts that our Creator did not keep such records, then it would stand to reason that we wouldn't do it either. However, many and most people do exactly this. Like an internal tax auditor, they never allow themselves to overlook or forget one mistake they've made in life.
Shame is deadly to the spirit. Our Abba Father wants us to let it go. The only ammunition that God needs against our sin is forgiveness. It's the only weapon that works! It's the only way God can clean our heart of the shame of our mistakes. It is imperative that we know this.
Please join us as we are introduced more to this God that keeps no record of wrongs.
